DanFr: I like dogs. Therefore, I enjoyed reading someone's strong informed opinions about how to communicate with (i.e. train) them. She says they respond to positive reinforcement and repetition, especially when made very specific to a particular action with a clicker. More surprising, perhaps, are all the theories she says are false and harmful, especially "Desire To Please" (DTP), saying that a dog wishes to "please" its owner. She claims that fallacy has been responsible for much abuse of dogs who then "know" that they are defying their owners wishes. (added at 11:52:12 PM on 03/09/08)
